In 1907, a teacher called Bernhard Dageförde saved an old farmhouse in Hanstedt from demolition. He had it rebuilt in Wilsede, set up a heathland museum there and called it "Dat ole Huus". It is one of the first four farm museums in Germany and was the first in Lower Saxony.
This museum "Dat ole Huus" marks your entry into the "Höhenrundweg".
This beautiful tour takes you under old oak trees, through cool forests, over open heathlands - up to Wilseder Berg with its proud 169 metres – the highest peak of the North German Plain! From here, nothing stands in the way of a distant view.
The way back runs parallel to the Machandelweg with its fascinating information – among other things, about the importance of the Wilseder Berg for the climate, especially for the amount of rainfall and thus for wildlife.
