Mueden (Oertze): Lake Heidesee

Lake Heidesee was originally set up as a pond in 1974. The lake has since developed into an important habitat for many different species of plants and animals, for example dragonflies.

Wooden banks and tables all around the lake invite you to stop for a picnic or to simply sit and relax. In the summer months you can dangle your feet into the cool water from one of the small wooden piers, watch the sailing boats and enjoy the sunset. No matter the time or season – Lake Heidsee always has its charm, not least because of its fantastically beautiful reflections.

A stroll around Lake Heidsee (about 2.5 km) will allow you to discover a lot of interesting things about its flora and fauna

The four info panels, the sign posts of the extensive foot path around the lake, give plenty of interesting information about:

The River Forest Adventure Trail winds its way on picturesque forest pathways and trails alongside the river Oertze. The 20 km long trail is divided into various parts which can be easily hiked and invite you to explore and discover on tours between 3 and 6.5 km.
