The Lüneburg Kurpark, a park laid out in an English landscape design, is located in the southern part of the city center
.
The spa park borders directly on the "SaLü", the Lüneburg salt thermal baths, where the brine still bubbles up today. You can also breathe in the brine: there is a graduation tower in the spa park, with brine dripping from its branches and spraying a fine salty mist - refreshment for the lungs.

The spa park in Lüneburg

The Lüneburg spa park is 23 hectares in size and  a park laid out in an English landscape design. It is located in the southern part of the city center and is Lüneburg's green lung.

At the beginning of garden art, people wanted to create "walk-in landscape paintings" as parks. This was also the case in Lüneburg. Vast areas with large trees and meandering paths were to offer no interruption to the view. For this reason, fences and hedges were also dispensed with. Flowering plants are few and far between, with the idea of a park following the example of English landscape gardens prevailing.

Young and old, families and students can relax here in warm weather.

Gradierwerk

Lüneburg is known for its salt mining - but that's not all. Salt and brine are used in many ways.

As early as 1907, a brine and moor bathhouse was built on the site of today's Kurpark. A new graduation house was put into operation a short time later. The number of spa guests in Lüneburg increased as a result and amounted to several hundred visitors per year. When the graduation house was expanded for the first time in 1927, the number of spa guests increased further. In 1925, there were already 7822 spa guests a year.

Gradierwerke are an extremely rare feature that can only be found in a few German cities.

Here in Lüneburg, the graduation house is an impressive 59 meters long, 7 meters wide and also 7 meters high.

The graduation house is currently being restored and is not in operation.

Just a few minutes in the vicinity, taking a walk or relaxing on a bench, will do wonders for your body and mind.
